MSPC CPAS Raises Money Through Walk Now For Autism Speaks
On October 21st, a team from Cranford, NJ-based MSPC CPAs participated in a two-mile walk and raised nearly $1500 for the charity, Austin Speaks. The Firm, which has participated in similar events for diabetes research, chose this event because almost everyone in the firm knows someone who is affected by Autism. This walk was held at Nomahegan Park which is located a few blocks from their office and the Firm felt that this was a great way to support the local community. Lead by team captains, Cathy Davis and Lisa Meierhofer, the firm invited staff and their families to breakfast before the walk. As an extra incentive, the employee who raised the most money earned a gift card to Amazon.com, sponsored by MSPC.
Cathy Davis says, “I have no family connection to these spectrum disorders but I do have friends with adult male children who are profoundly autistic and it is simply heartbreaking to see how the disorder affects the entire family, not just the children.”
